  Oprah Winfrey's Excellence

"I am a product of every other black woman before me who has done or said anything worthwhile. Recognizing that I am a part of history is what allows me to soar." -Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey, 70, was born on January 29th, 1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, and is well-known as a lively American television personality. Her daily talk show, named after herself, is one of the most popular of the genre. After success, she became one of the most influential women in the United States. However, her life wasn't always like this. In her teenage years, Oprah moved in with her father, who positively influenced her life. The relationship between her and her father has shaped her success and career to this day. While she did not have many struggles rising to fame, she is well acquainted with the challenges of the real world. She had a difficult childhood, facing poverty and abuse, which prompted the switch between living with her mother and living with her father. Despite these struggles, Oprah earned her degree in communication at Tennessee State; she became interested in news broadcasting and chose to pursue a career as a news anchor for the local CBS television station. Shortly after that, she was made a reporter and co-anchor for ABC News in Baltimore, Maryland. Clearly, Winfrey had an honest and intoxicating personality that people wanted to hear more of! She excelled greatly in a personal talk show format and began to host AM Chicago.
AM Chicago was renamed as the Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah has used her success to give back to her community. For example, The Oprah Winfrey Foundation, founded by Oprah herself, supports charitable endeavors worldwide. Through her foundation, she has contributed millions to various vital causes spanning education, environmental conservation, healthcare, and societal welfare. Furthermore, Oprah has founded the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for girls in South Africa, empowering young women with education and opportunities. This academy has significantly impacted the lives of numerous young women in South Africa, providing them a better future. Oprah's success story is a testament to resilience, drive, and foresight.
